“He who follows is always behind” ~ Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot
Creating our lives based on our truest desires and without trying to look like -or follow- anyone else, is a life worth living!
This may have been the most difficult thing for me to do, but it seems like I’m not alone. Most times when I try to get something started, it’s very difficult not to start with how someone else has done it before. This may be the main cause for not feeling completely fulfilled with what we do or even not following through at all.
When we try to get anything started, whether it is a new exercise routine, a work project, a party plan, a photo album, a conversation…anything! Keep in mind your truest and deepest desire for doing it. This will ensure your unique stamp in your actions and leave you with a sense of ownership.
When Corot (the famous french painter) struggled with getting in touch with his unique expression, he said, “He who follows is always behind”. If you’re feeling behind or you feel you’re not finding your true expression, try to connect with the reason why you want to do what you’re doing in the first place, and with how you let your personality show through what you’re trying to get accomplished.
This way we will let others see our true selves and create meaningful-real connections.
To a Happyou!
P.S. There is nothing wrong with being inspired by others. Let’s just make sure we add our uniqueness to every experience we have!
